Worst January Since 1970 Posted: 31 Jan 2009 09:16 AM CST Here's how the week unfolded: Since last Friday's close, the S&P 500 dropped -0.73%, Dow -0.95%, Nasdaq -0.06%, and the Russell 2000 -0.19%. January's loss is the worst showing since 1970. If this month sets the tone for the rest of the year, we're in for a it! To win big this week you needed to be nimble enough to play the end-of-the-month pump and then walk away and short it over the past two days.
